The MhackGyver team was in Rennes on the night of April 12-13 for BreizhCTF. Now in its fifth year, this event has established itself as one of the major hacking events.
300 participants, almost as much pizza, and nearly 40 kg of candy, not to mention dozens of kilometers of RJ45 cables, liters of coffee, a great atmosphere, and a wealth of expertise.
It must be said that over the past five years, enthusiasm for BreizhCTF has been growing. Today, it has become THE hacking event in western France, and the red team Squad was part of the trip.
Rumps of excellence.
To get everyone in the mood, the rumps allowed the experts present to share their talent. On the Squad side, Florian Carfantan stood out by giving a 6-minute micro-conference, demonstrating how it is still possible, in 2019, to become a super admin of a professional website from the Internet.

An exceptional conference
We met him at the FIC with the Tesla he is helping to hack, and now we find him in Rennes. Gaël Musquet, resident hacker at Qwant, gave a very informative presentation, encouraging every hacking expert to take their rightful place in civil crisis management. Indeed, following a storm or other major event, hackers' communication expertise is a real asset in helping the population.
A summary of his speech can be found in this interview:
A technical CTF
The least we can say is that the level of the challenges was up to par for this 5th edition: OS command injection, Curl, XSS, Reverse, ... and even an IRL wiring challenge, covering a very wide range of challenges.
Among the many teams competing, MhackGyver climbed to 31st place against increasingly skilled professionals.
This was a great exercise that also affirmed Squad's presence in the western region, alongside major players and local teams. Next up are the Hack and Hack In Paris events.
